General Questions

Choosing the right venue is key to creating a successful event in Bristol. At Host Bristol, you can explore all available spaces and venues by visiting our Spaces page and filtering by your event type, whether it’s a wedding, meeting, conference, dinner or private party. Each space page highlights the features, capacity and facilities to help you make the perfect choice that fits your vision. 

If you’re still unsure which venue is the best fit, our experienced events team is on hand to provide guidance. Contact us by email or through our contact form, and we’ll help you select the ideal venue for your occasion, whether it’s at M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery or Bristol City Hall. 

The Create Centre has limited on-site parking. Permits can be issued at reception once you have parked, and the permit must be displayed clearly on your dashboard. As a centre focused on sustainability, we encourage visitors to consider alternative transport options, including public transport, cycling or walking, where possible. 

For M Shed, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall, there is no dedicated on-site parking, but a number of nearby car parks are available. Please note that all listed car parks are independently operated, and fees, availability and rates are set by the car park providers. Host Bristol is not responsible for parking charges, rate changes or availability. We recommend checking directly with the car park operator for up-to-date information before your visit.

All Host Bristol venues are easily accessible via public transport in Bristol

  • Bristol City Hall is a short walk from the College Green bus stop and the Bristol City Centre Ferry Landing. The nearest main train station is Bristol Temple Meads, providing convenient connections across the region. 
  • Bristol Museum & Art Gallery is close to the Triangle West bus stop and the City Centre Ferry Landing. Bristol Temple Meads and Clifton Down train stations are within walking distance. 
  • Create Centre, located on the harbourside, is near Bath Street and Cumberland Basin bus stops, with Mardyke Ferry Landing a short walk away. The nearest main train station is Bristol Temple Meads
  • M Shed, also on the harbourside, is within walking distance of the Catherine Mead Street bus stop and Wapping Wharf ferry station, with Bristol Temple Meads serving as the nearest main train station. 

Using public transport is a convenient way to reach any Host Bristol venue, with bus, train and ferry options linking the city centre and surrounding areas.

Yes. Host Bristol offers a selection of venues in Bristol that are well suited to large-scale evening events. M Shed can host events for up to 500 guests, with expansive open-plan spaces and harbourside views. Bristol City Hall also accommodates evening events for up to 500 guests, offering a grand setting with impressive architectural features. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery can host receptions and evening events for up to 400 guests, using its iconic galleries and sweeping staircases to create a striking atmosphere. 

All venues are supported by professional staffing, security and experienced event managers, ensuring large evening events run smoothly from start to finish.

Yes, outdoor events and summer parties can be hosted at selected Host Bristol venues during the warmer months, offering unique outdoor spaces in the heart of Bristol.

M Shed 
M Shed is ideal for summer parties with exclusive access to the Rooftop Terrace overlooking the Bristol harbourside. Outdoor access is included as part of the hire of the Harbourview Suite or Waterside Suite, or both, providing a flexible indoor-outdoor venue summer celebrations in Bristol.

Bristol City Hall 
At Bristol City Hall, summer events take place in the Queen Elizabeth II Hall, with access to the foyer and ramps leading down to College Green. This allows guests to enjoy outdoor space with views of Bristol Cathedral, making it a popular choice for summer receptions, networking events and parties.

Outdoor access at Host Bristol venues is weather-dependent, as we do not provide outdoor shelters in the event of rain. However, summer parties at M Shed and Bristol City Hall are primarily hosted within the venues’ indoor event spaces, with access to outdoor areas available for guests to use when weather conditions allow. 

At M Shed, summer parties are based in the Harbourview Suite and/or Waterside Suite, with optional access to the Rooftop Terrace overlooking the Bristol harbourside. At Bristol City Hall, events take place in the Queen Elizabeth II Hall, with access to the foyer and outdoor areas leading down to College Green. 

This flexible approach ensures your event in Bristol can continue comfortably regardless of the weather, while still making the most of outdoor space during warmer months. For advice on planning a summer party or outdoor-style event in Bristol, the Host Bristol events team is happy to help. 

Yes. At Host Bristol we can accommodate a wide range of dietary requirements and allergens for events across our Bristol venues, including M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall, provided details are shared with your event planner along with the final details of your event. 

If you’d like a bespoke menu for your event, simply let a member of the Host Bristol events team know and we’ll be happy to discuss the available options. 

Yes, all Host Bristol venues — M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall — are available for private hire outside of regular opening hours. Events held outside standard opening times may require additional staffing and security, which is typically included within our evening hire packages. 

Yes! At Host Bristol, we love showing off our amazing event spaces. Whether you’re planning a conference, wedding or party, you can book a guided tour at M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery or Bristol City Hall. Our on-site team will take you around each space so you can see the rooms, facilities and layouts in person, helping you imagine your perfect event before you book. 

Yes, all Host Bristol venues are fully accessible. M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery have customer lifts to every floor, along with accessible toilet facilities throughout the buildings. The Create Centre offers lift access to first-floor meeting rooms and an accessible toilet on the ground floor. 

At Bristol City Hall, all event spaces are located on the first floor and are accessible via ramps from street level, with accessible toilet facilities available on the same floor. 

Yes. All Host Bristol venues — M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall — offer easily accessible Wi-Fi for event organisers and attendees. Each meeting room is equipped with AV facilities, and our team can provide details or guidance to ensure your specific requirements are met. Please contact us to discuss the AV setup for your chosen venue.

Yes. Host Bristol venues — M Shed, Create Centre, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall — offer a variety of breakout rooms and smaller spaces for workshops, meetings or group activities. Please let us know your requirements when enquiring about your event, and our team will help you find the perfect space for your needs. 

Wedding Questions

Yes. Three of our Host Bristol venues are licensed to host weddings and civil ceremonies. M Shed, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall are all fully licensed, allowing couples to hold their ceremony and celebration in one distinctive setting. Each venue offers a unique backdrop, from harbourside views to historic architecture, supported by experienced event managers who guide couples through planning and delivery to ensure the day runs smoothly. 

Yes. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed and Bristol City Hall are all licensed wedding venues, allowing you to host both your wedding ceremony and reception in one seamless location in Bristol. This means you and your guests can enjoy the entire celebration without the need to travel between venues. 

Please note that the registrar for your wedding ceremony will need to be arranged and booked separately through Bristol City Council

Absolutely! You’re welcome to have a photographer or videographer capture every special moment at your Host Bristol wedding. Our stunning venues — M Shed, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall — provide incredible backdrops for photos and videos. 

During museum opening hours, there are a few areas and items that can’t be photographed, and if you’d like to film while the venue is open to the public, we may need to get special permission. Don’t worry, your Host Bristol Event Planner will guide you every step of the way, so your wedding memories are beautifully captured. 

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own trusted suppliers to make your wedding day truly personal, from photographers and videographers to florists and stylists. Our venues — M Shed, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and Bristol City Hall — are historic, listed buildings, so there are a few guidelines to ensure everything stays safe and beautiful. 

We require that all external suppliers provide a copy of their Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and all equipment is PAT tested. Your Host Bristol Event Planner will guide you through these details so you can focus on creating your dream wedding in Bristol.
